College Life

Hey guys I Apologize greatly for not posting this post which I have meaning to do in a long, long, long time and I see everyone else has already... so without further ado lets jump right into this.

College at St Pats...

College I recon is going smoothly, so far, so far except for homework of course... but we'll get back to that later ; ) classes are going great, teacher are all well and I have made a different group of friends which In mostly sit with and hang out with for ever different subject. (Which I highly recommend on doing because every class you will have a completely different mix of people)

And to be honest college personally has made me more an independent guy. Sure going to swimming at 5 o'clock in the morning my parents take me but after swimming getting my gear together getting all my school stuff ready then going strait to tawa swimming pool to town by train as soon as swimming finishes. Then I catch a bus from the train station to school then back home again by bus as soon as schools over... and not to mention the days I do have swimming in the afternoon...

Then having to squeeze homework in there somehow?!? OMG don't get me started on that homework... heaps of sleepless nights having to stay up late finishing it all... say good bye to all your free time and weekends and even holidays!

Nah don't worry... I'm just having a bit of a laugh I wish I could have seen your faces on the other side of the screen!

"Homework isn't that bad, we get double the amount when we were in intermediate..." well thats what I would have said at the start of the year. Ever since, the amount of homework we've been getting has slowly been rising. who knows what it would be like in the future...

Anyway that enough about me and my life... I'll stop talking now I wan't to know what you guys have been getting up to in intermediate. So don;t be shy comment below your highlights and low-lights of this year 2016 Oh and best of luck with your production planning in term 3. I can't wait to see the end result when I'm watching in the front row center!

Goodbye

2015 Moments

Hello!                                                                   Welcome everybody to another weekly blog post! This weeks bird call comes from the Welcome swallow, a native bird found in lowland farmland with small streams or drains, or in wetland areas where they are mostly seen on the wing catching small insects.
So welcome guys lets get strait into things, firstly my favorite moments. . . so without further ado lets jump into some of my favorite highlights of 2015.

1. Camp                                            I have to say camp was probably the biggest if not the biggest highlight for this year, 2015. It was amazing! The people, the friends the memories, and the activities. Which boosted my confidence levels, and made me loose my fear of claustrophobianess. . .  (Is that word) claustrophobia A.K.A a person who dreads confined spaces. Loosing my fear during caving, especially trying to move around in that murky cave system and trying to fit through those tight spaces. But other activities are just as amazing for instance, bridge-jumping, kayaking, high ropes. . . etc.

2. Cake Decorating

OMG This was so much fun! (Another great highlight to put on the list) To be honest. . . (no offence Catherine or Ethan) but I kinda thought it would fail a bit, and in a way it did a bit, just look at that icing on the side! (not to mention we destroyed half of the cake in the process.
         Vs
But besides that doesn't it look a lot like the cake im pretty proud of that for me, (putting my artistic skills aside her), that is an achievement right here (insert claps and cheers here:)

Next up. . . where do I think the big day out will be held. . .
Geez this is a tough one every time you predict something it is like the exact opposite of the destination you were thinking that we were going too. . . making this whole 'Choosing' thing near impossible. well if I had to choose lets start off with listing the destinations from previous years.

-Zealandia
-The pool

-Zealandia
-ummmmm. . .
-Zealandia
-Don't remember
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia
-Zealandia. . .

I feel like every year we go to something like zealandia. . . Geez why am I complaining!!! Best place in Wellington!! Although to be honest, I think its probably down between the zoo (because of the new section open and everything) and te papa, and probebly my favorite big day out outing, would be the time we were at nga manu or something like that... is that how you spell it? Anyway It was so cool with all the bird aviaries, and bush walks and nature stuff so cool!

Anyways thats all for this week, this is Ty Ty for another blog post stay tuned for next week! Bye Bye now!

College...

College...

Arggggggg college, don't get me wrong i am looking forward to it but it's just the fact that's it's quite literally round the corner and everyday it sits there in my mind not a stressful feeling, or a happy one, nor either a sad feeling, I just don't know how to describe it really. . . I'm just sorta concerned a bit that's all, I seriously don't know why I feel this way cause pretty much everyone who's gonna be there next year I know. . . Oh well Lets get into this weeks post shall we?

'Keee-aa' 'Keee-aa'
Hey
Hello and welcome everybody to another weekly blog post this weeks bird call comes from the both playful and destructive kea, the world's only alpine parrot with beautiful scarlet underwings which are revealed during flight. Kea are even rated as one of the most intelligent bird in the world.

Anyway onto this weeks blog post. . . College just think within just a few months I'll be knee deep with homework per day, completely bombarded with tests, *sigh* and all tests are pretty much the same. . . spend all night cramming info into your head. . . and then it turns out there's questions in that test that you've never learnt about yet! Or those stupid multi question tests where you take a loooooong time sussing out the question and spend majority of the test figuring out the answer and then it turns out your 'answer' isn't one of the options. Geez why can't google sit with me during those
moments. . . am I right!

Oh man that reminds me Electricity test tomorrow!!!

It isn't all that bad though,

Lets look on the bright side of things at least im not moving on completely alone, in fact i'm going going to college with pretty much all the year 8 boys! F.Y.I I'm going to St. Patrick's If I haven't told you yet. Also the subjects I'm tacking next year i'm quite looking forward too like Economics, Business studies, and graphics. . . plus all the compulsory subjects of course.

So yeah there's mixed emotions about going to college next year, this is Ty Ty for another blog post stay tuned for next week! Bye Bye now!

Book Week

Book Week

Hey!! Welcome back guys to another weekly blog post! So lets get strait into it! Oh right bird call . . . jokes this weeks bird call comes from the shining cuckoo, a native species of cuckoo which migrates to the Solomon Islands to escape the New Zealand winter. A slim, sparrow sized bird with a metallic green and bronze tone. (They have just arrived back to New Zealand, and I can even hear them in the mornings when I wake up!)  Another interesting fact about these birds id that it doesn't build its own nest nor does it raises it's young, usually laying its eggs in the nest of a grey warbler, and the poor grey warbler treats the chick as its on, even though its way bigger than the warbler itself.

Alright so lets get back into this blog post for real now. . .
This weeks topic is . .
What are my favorite book week events?  well first up on our list is the

Golden Ticket hunt!

Probably my favorite one, if I don't say so myself. . . So the intermediate teachers goes of and hides this 'Golden Ticket' around the school and we had to try and find them with the clues the teachers have posted on the blog. Whoever lays their hands upon the ticket first wins! (You know. . . trying to recreate the book scene: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Some people went hard out, sitting down on the PCs creating shifts constantly pressing the F5 button just waiting for the next clue to arrive. But when it does appear on the screen there's a mad rush as everyone storms out of the door, trying to find the Golden Ticket. Chairs toppled over, books
wiped clean off the desks, and bodies pushing
and shoving trying to be the first to get a gimps of the Ticket.
But I eventually found one!

The guy in the middle is like me trying to get the Ticket. . .

Book Character day & Book Quiz!

For the book Character day I went as Obi wan kenobi. (A Star wars character) and the Quiz actually went alright so there was a quiz that was held in the library, there were 4 rounds, the first round was year 1&2's next was year 3&4's then 5&6's and lastly 7&8's and the house captains chose only four people from each year to represent their year and
their house my house (Evens)
ummmm . . . well . . . did alright. . .
but we didn't win and we weren't
last. . . I think

Kate De Goldi

On Tuesday, during book week still within the book theme, a special guest came in to talk to us, a special someone called kate de gold, a well known author who has written many great books. So she came in and talked her books giving many great advice and tips and how she thinks up of book ideas and the process of which the ideas go through for those future writers out there. And also Kate De Goldi talked about her life, and how she grew up which I thought was every cool and interesting.

Thanks guys for reading this weeks blog post. . . stay tuned for next weeks post bye!!!

AFL

Hey
Welcome back guys to another weekly blog post, and this weeks bird call comes from the saddleback, a poor flyer but has strong legs to help it cling onto trees.
There's a video to the left show casing its call.

This weeks blog topic however is about
What we were like trying to receive the ball
AFL. . .  yea well not really a fan. I pritty much suck, whenever I try to kick the ball to Catherine, it would go strait over her head and almost landing smack bang on to someone else head. . . no offence but Catherine isn't much better. when she kicked it it would go everywhere but towards me, so we spent the

whole kicking session running after the ball.
anyway the skills and tips and stuff that i have learned was to

1) Hold the ball facing down
2) Laces away from faces
3) Point your toes when kicking

Fav Thing

Fav Thing

Hello!!
Welcome back guys to another blog post this week and this weeks bird call well umm. . . I didn't bother even trying to attempt to write down this fabulous bird call which comes from the King-of-Saxony. anyway there's a video for you guys to watch instead. . .

Welcome back. . . I know right. . . what a heck of a sound from a tiny winy bird. Throughout their evolution, the King-of-Saxony's extraordinary and a display that includes waving the head plumes in sync bouncing on a perch, and delivering an extraordinary screeching, buzzing, hissing call that sounds like anything but a bird (More like something from outer space if you ask me)

Anyway onto this weeks blog, and yes

your probably wondering why
I haven't chose a native New Zealand bird for this weeks bird call but it's because of the fact that it relates to this weeks blog topic which is my favorite thing. . . and instead of you all face palming in front of your screens while I blab on about a New Zealand bird. I'm going to do something a bit differently and blab on about the
birds of paradise!!! (And yes I can see you face palming in front of your screens right now)

Two evolutionary forces have combined
to shape the extraordinary
birds-of-paradise. The males owe their exotic plumes and dances to
the females who have to chose mates, and over millions of years the males plumes changes to suite the females interest. And the diversity of the 39 species is the result of geographic isolation. There
is an amazing diversity of birds of paradise species. From genetic evidence we know that all species evolved from a single ancient crow like ancestor.

They do so through the evolutionary process of speciation.
Whch has ended up with the 39 species of birds-of-paradise
which includes tiny, starling-sized birds and big, crow-sized
birds each just as beautiful as the last and all has loads of
different ways of how to grab the females attention. birds in
vivid blues, greens, and reds; birds with head plumes, tail
plumes, back plumes, chest plumes, and no plumes.

Dream Job

Dream Job

'Kek-kek-kek-kek'                                                                                                                       Hey guys! Welcome back to this weeks post. Before we get into the swing of things, I better tell you what this weeks bird call is. . . Well for this weeks call comes from the New Zealand kingfisher, a bird most frequently seen perching on top of power lines, post tops etc. where they search for prey including large insects, invertebrates, crabs, small fish, and even sometimes goldfish from garden ponds!

Anyway lets try not to drag this out too long. So this weeks post
is about my dream job. . .

Firstly i'd like to be an architecture. . .

Architecture can mean:

  • A general term to describe buildings and other physical structures.
  • The art and science of designing buildings and some nonbuilding structures.
  • The style of design and method of construction of buildings and other physical structures
  • The knowledge of art, science & technology and humanity
  • The practice of the architect, where architecture means offering or rendering professional services in connection with the design and construction of buildings, or built environments.
  • The design activity of the architect, from the macro-level (urban designlandscape architecture) to the micro-level (construction details and furniture).
  • The word architecture has also been adopted to describe other designed systems, especially technology

I'd put my artistic skills into this job to create fantastic new eco-
friendly buildings and houses. i will also design new city parks
and gardens even the occasional wildlife reserve. Also putting
my skills to the test I may even design new buildings and
machines to solve world problems, such as global warming.
If I was wanting to be an architecture I would need to take the
following topics.
  • Architecture history
  • Green building design
  • Project management
  • Construction methods
  • CAD for architecture
  • And a lot of Math!

My second dream job is to be a conservationist. . .

First things first lets explain what this word means for those of you who aren't quite sure.                                                                                                                 firstly conservation means: To activity supervise a district, river, forest, etc. to protect ether the environment or the depletion of species native to that area. So to sum it up humans are protecting nature from humans.  like literally building a huge fence to stop us and other introduced animals in (I know right crazy)                                                                                                 Conservationist means: Well it's pretty much a person who runs the conservation which tries to protect the animals and plants inside the reserve. . . from us.                                                                                                           Being a conservationist would be nice. . . but it's more like if i had any spare time because it wouldn't get me very far in life. And thats the same with being an artist. I wouldn't base my whole life around it, I will more likely
do some drawing of painting in my spare time. . .
(And for your guys information realistic i probably wouldn't
be an architecture for m,y real full time job. . . I just chose
the first thing that came into my head and started writing it)
