Evolution

Topic

funny-evolution-dinosaurs-birdsEvolution possibly one of the most powerful forces in nature it is the reason why we have such diversity of life on planet earth

It all start off with a mutation or a genetic change in an animal if the 'mutated' animals survives long enough to reproduce, then that mutation will be passed down from one generation to the next, and soon that mutation will become a typical part of the species.

if the animal however is born with a negative mutation and does not give it the advantage to reach high enough for food then its mutation will no be passed down to future generations because it would have died well before it could reproduce.

There are also different types of adaptations. Structural, behavioral, exaptations and vestigial.
Structural is when an adaptation is to do something in relation to the body. Behavioral is........... well you guest it somthing in relation to the behavior of an animal.

Some adaptations on the other hand can be on purpose like like feathers for flight or keeping warm, these are called exaptation adaptations. Lastly we have the vestigial adaptation, it is when something over time becomes useless, like legs on whales.
The Galapagos Islands are a good way to show all of these adaptations.

Structural:  An example of a structural adaptation is the giant tortoise whose shell changes shape depending on the type of environment and food it eats.

Behavioral: The Marine Iguana is a good way to resemble this adaptation due to its behavior of venturing out to sea and dive down to eat the fresh seaweed it eats.

Exaptations; Darwin's Finches are a good way to show this adaptation because they evolved different beaks on purpose to eat different foods.

Vestigial: The Flightless Cormorant has evolved a vestigial adaptation because its wings are becoming useless.

I had lots of fun learning and exploring our evolution topic this term. It has been so cool and interesting! Some other things I'd like to learn about during this topic is the different time periods on life on earth and see and learn about all the different animals that evolved to suit their period, and see the pattern and how that pattern shaped life today!

My social studies unit idea is ether the industrial revolution or something along those lines. Or different human periods like ancient Rome or Greece and learn about their culture and beliefs on Gods and stuff.

I have had a lot of fun during this topic and can't wait to see what the future of this topic and next terms social studies topic holds!

Thank you for reading my post, I hope you learnt something and I will see you next time.

Until then...

Goodbye!!!
